WAIKATO
LANDSCAPE PHOTOGRAPHY
The Waikato landscape in the central north island is home to one of the most famous movie sets in New Zealand - The Hobbiton and the Lord of the Rings. It's not hard to see why they chose this area to be 'The Shire' for these films .. rolling hills, farmland and beautiful trees as far as the eye can see over the landscape. The Waikato is also home to the beautiful beach that is Raglan, Bridal Veil Falls, the Waitomo Glow worm caves, plus many other attractions. If you are interested in prints or purchasing images please visit my print store or contact me.
The Waikato District is the fourth largest region in New Zealand and home to some beautiful New Zealand landscape treasures like The Hobbiton Movie Set, Raglan Beach, Bridal Veil Falls, Marakopa Falls, countless rolling green hills, the Waitomo Glowworm Caves, Hamilton City, the list is endless for the incredible diversity that belongs in the Waikato District.
My absolute favourite Waikato Landscape Photo location is Raglan Beach. Home to some of New Zealand's most epic surf breaks (Manu Bay, Whale Bay, Indicators and Ngarunui Beach) there are some truly beautiful NZ photo opportunities to be had along the Raglan coast and this is where Waikato photographers flock to.
We definitely cant forget the amazing Hobbiton movie set which is such a beautiful location to visit and take photos. If you find yourself in the Waikato area make sure to book a tour and go and see this unique and amazing location!
Bridal Veil Falls near Raglan is an absolutely stunning horseshoe waterfall that is another favourite with every Waikato Photographer.
Near the Hobbiton movie set is also the rolling green hills of Matamata which provide beautiful landscape photography conditions and NZ photography. At sunset the golden hour light hits the rolling hill so delicately.
My hometown is actually very close to the Waikato and only takes me around an hour to get there over the Kaimai Ranges. Along the way there is the Kaimai Lookout which provides a magical view over the Waikato plains and this is where I took one of my favourite Waikato photography images.
I still have a lot to explore within the Waikato Region and I hope to be able to tick off a few more bucketlist Waikato photography shots in the near future.
I hope by sharing these NZ images of the Waikato area it might inspire you to come and explore some Waikato Photography for yourself.
